How do I create a works-cited-list entry for a reprinted book?

When you create a works-cited-list entry for a reprint of a book, you may give the original publication date in the supplemental element immediately following the title.

Achebe, Chinua. Things Fall Apart. 1959. Penguin Books, 2017.

If you would like to give further information about the original edition, such as the name of its publisher, you may do so in the supplemental element at the end of the entry.

Achebe, Chinua. Things Fall Apart. Penguin Books, 2017. Originally published by McDowell Obolensky, 1959.

For more on original publication dates, see section 5.108 of the MLA Handbook. For more on publication history generally, see section 5.114 and this post.
