If you use computer-aided design, or CAD, software to create a two-dimensional drawing, a three-dimensional model, or another type of visual output to be included in your paper or research project, you do not need to create a works-cited-list entry for the software program. (The program is not the work but rather the medium, or tool, through which the work was created.) If it is important to mention the specific program or version you used, you may do so in your prose or in the figure caption (e.g., “Model created using SketchUp Pro”). Remember that in MLA style, titles of software programs, including apps, are italicized.
