Adrianna M. Paliyenko

Adrianna Paliyenko, the Arnold Bernard Professor in Arts and Humanities at Colby College, specializes in nineteenth-century French and francophone studies. Her research focus on the production, transmission, and reception of women’s poetry and prose includes the discursive nexus of genius, gender, race, and class. Paliyenko’s book Genius Envy: Women Shaping French Poetic History, 1801–1900 (Penn State UP, 2016) recently appeared in French translation: Envie de génie: La contribution des femmes à l’histoire (XIXe siècle), translated by Nicole G. Albert (PURH, 2020).
