Do I need to create a separate works-cited-list entry for every work I use from the same database?

Note: This post relates to content in the eighth edition of the MLA Handbook. For up-to-date guidance, see the ninth edition of the MLA Handbook.

Yes, each work you cite from the same database requires its own works-cited-list entry, as shown in the example below:

Some scholarship on genre addresses the rhetoric of housework (see, e.g., White-Farnham; Courtney).

Courtney, Jennifer. “Real Men Do Housework: Ethos and Masculinity in Contemporary Domestic Advice.” Rhetoric Review, vol. 28, no. 1, 2009, pp. 66–81. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/stable/25655930.

White-Farnham, Jamie. “‘Revising the Menu to Fit the Budget’: Grocery Lists and Other Rhetorical Heirlooms.” College English, vol. 76, no. 3, Jan. 2014, pp. 208–26. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/stable/24238240.

This practice follows the guidelines for citing more than one page from the same website.
